Holiday in India

 Travel to India

India is an intense experience for all senses! From the moment you land to the second you leave again, you are bombarded with vision, sounds, and smells. You are constantly getting close to others in the crowds, and your taste buds are challenged at any meal. Beautiful temples, forts and palaces, markets with crowds, jam-packed trains, buses and rickshaws, stalls and beautiful restaurants, beggars, street vendors, and ordinary people – all testify to the fact that there is a country with an old and strong culture.

A walk through India's markets is one big fragrance tunnel with brightly colored spices perched alongside exotic fruit, exciting vegetables, and freshly caught fish.

India has many different regions: the desert state of Rajasthan with harsh scenery and beautiful cities with wonderful palaces. The bustling capital Delhi with traffic and congestion, Goa with the famous beaches, Kerala with the well-known "backwaters" and coconut palms, the mountains of North India with snow, monasteries, tiger reserves, and the beautiful city of Amritsar.

Tailor your India trip yourself

The large country can almost only be experienced in smaller bites at a time, whether you are going on a long or short round trip. But what slice of the country you want to experience and in what order you want the experiences is entirely up to you. We help you tailor your dream trip to India with exactly the experiences you want.

Holiday in India - experience all the best on a tour

India is a huge country and you can prepare for a bit of a tour if you want to experience it all. It is more than 2500 km from Delhi in the north to Madurai in the south, and sometimes there are all kinds of experiences. We've picked you out a little bit for you to read about.

Golden Triangle - Delhi, Taj Mahal, and Jaipur

For the best start to your tour of India, visit the Golden Triangle between the cities of Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra.

The three cities each contain their own cultural treasures, which are characterized by very different religions and traditions. A journey in the Golden Triangle often starts in Delhi's man-growing streets. Here you can really experience organized chaos as you have hardly seen it before! Delhi really needs to be experienced for better or worse.

From here, head on to Agra where you'll lose both nose and mouth at the sight of Taj Mahal – one of the seven new wonders of the world. The mausoleum was built by the GrandOgthian Emperor Shan Jahan as a tomb for his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal. What a love! All you can do is be impressed when you get there – you have to find the words that describe it best. The city of Jaipur completes the triangle and it takes us on to India's beautiful cities.

India's brightly colored cities

Jaipur is a brightly colored city! Rajasthan's ancient, beautiful capital is also known as "the pink city". The city is best known for Jai Singh's Palace, an incredibly beautiful palace carved by over 10,000 workers. Especially the 5 storey façade of the harem, also called the Palace of Winds, is absolutely incredible. The special construction allowed the women to follow what was going on on the main street without even being seen.

Jodhpur has been nicknamed "the blue city" as almost all the houses in the old city are painted blue. This should make it cooler inside the houses, and according to local science, it also keeps the mosquitoes away. The town is known for the beautiful Meherangarh Fort, located on a large hilltop and guarding the city.

Jaisalmer is called "the golden city" because all the houses are built of golden sandstone. The large sandstone fort, which in the afternoon sun gets a golden glow, thrones over the city, perched at its feet with marketplaces and hundreds of old houses.

Udaipur is perhaps India's friendliest and most beautiful city. It has distinctive temples, a castle that looks like something from 1001 night's adventures, a palace in the middle of a lake, small and exciting alleyways with one small, beautiful business after another.

Varanasi is the most sacred city in India. According to the Hindu faith, you are cleansed of your sins by bathing in the Ganges, and every year more than a million pilgrims come to Varanasi to bathe in the river.

Discover wild elephants in the Indian jungle

India offers plenty of lush jungle with wild animals, and it is this jungle that has inspired Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book". You experience best the jungle and its wildlife in the national parks, and here we have two favorites.

In South India, you will find Periyar National Park, which is over 900 square kilometers in size and consists of forest, rivers, and the beautiful, artificial lake Lake Periyar. Here you may be lucky enough to spot both wild elephants and the rare Bengal tigers – and thousands of other exciting animals.

If you're traveling around Rajasthan, it's Ranthambore National Park you'll need to go to for jungle experiences. Ranthambore is another of the few places in the world where you may be lucky enough to spot tigers. On safaris in open jeeps, you drive through the beautiful and varied nature, where there are ruins from ancient times.

Houseboat adventures in Kerala's Backwaters

Kerala is known for its backwaters. These backwaters consist of about 44 rivers, canals, and lakes that run across a vast area through rice paddies, coconut palms, and shallow jungle. Here you will experience the country life and beautiful nature from the first parquet on the deck of your houseboat. The waterways wind up in the lush surroundings, and along the banks' everyday life takes place. The old grandmothers wash clothes, the children bathe and slob while the men paddle off in canoes filled with coconuts and other commodities.

Beach holidays in India

Finish your tour of India with beach and water. Or maybe you want a beach holiday?

Most have heard of the state of Goa, known for the delicious, golden beaches! Once this was where the hippies went, but today it's tourists in all categories. And there is a beach to suit them all - from the quite quiet to those with lots of cheer.

In Kerala, you will also find some of the country's best beaches, namely Marari or Cherai Beach. Here you can enjoy the warm weather with a cool drink in hand and stroll the mile-long beaches before plunging into the roaring waves.

Eat your way through Indian cuisine

Wherever you go in India, all you can do is be impressed and excited by the versatile, tasty, and well – sometimes very spicy – Indian cuisine! Everywhere you can smell delicious spicy food and spices at the many food markets.

Like the rest of its culture, India offers plenty of taste and sensory experiences. India must be tasted, eaten, and, not least, drunk. Look forward to trying a Chicken Tiki Masalla dish or just a real naan bread coming out of a smoking hot stone oven! However, remember to wash it all down with delicious and creamy Mongo lassi.
